Magic/Ability/Talent: Sword-play, and all around piracy

Weapon: A sword that is somewhere between a saber and a cutlass. It's really just a broader, sturdier saber. Appears as shown.

Personality:
At first: Cocky, arrogant, self-serving, and full of himself. As well as any other synonym for being a self-absorbed jerk. He thinks very highly of himself, much higher than he ought to in order to be accurate, in fact. Likely just He's a greedy thief, and is quick to cut throats if anyone gets in his way. Not only does he have an extremely short temper, but he also possesses a surprisingly high level of intelligence and cunning for someone of his demeanor. He is very sly and tricky, and has a silver tongue caged behind his set of extremely pointy teeth.
He is stubborn, incorrigible, violent, rude, and crafty.
If he has any redeeming qualities, even he doesn't know what they are.

Now: Over the course of recent events, Kroy learned to care about others and now puts his friends far above himself. Though he still tends to be cocky and quick to anger, he has oddly enough grown much kinder and gentler, and his very protective of his friends, or those who are important to his friends (even if he hates said important people, much to his irritation). While his wrath is still cold and merciless, and he has been growing more and more to fit into his role as the Dread Pirate, he has also begun to develop a great deal of mercy and compassion. He is less full of himself, and has a tendency toward bursts of self-loathing for what obligations he feels he has failed. Yet these new redeeming qualities have primarily only applied in situations pertaining to those he cares for, and as much as he has grown better, he has grown equally worse.

There remains the fact that he has declared war on Wonderland itself, and whether he is the heroic villain, or the villainous hero is yet to be seen.


History: Abandoned by his abusive single father when he was five, Kroy quickly learned that stealing was necessary for survival. In those days he often went hungry, and knew what it meant to be starving. Malnourished and desperate, the young boy would often fight with other homeless people for scraps, and would even raid houses for anything to eat, whether they were vacant or occupied by sleeping people. It was a hard life.

One would think that a person like Kroy would begrudge is father for all of this, but oddly enough he rarely dwells on it, nor does he find it to be tragic at all, for to his mind that was just the way of the world.

As he got older, more privileged children would often make fun of his intellect, after all he had never been able to go to school. Stubborn and determined not to be bested by a bunch of pansies who hadn't yet learned how cruel the world was, Kroy began stealing books from houses, and taught himself how to read using what he already knew of letters and smaller words. It was in reading these pilfered pages that he came across some stories of pirates.

The boy was inspired by the tales woven before him about these grand, sea-faring scalawags, who took whatever they liked and were rich and free. Their only worries being the evasion of the law, and the vastness of the seas standing between themselves and a decent meal. Well, there were no huge seas in Wonderland, so food would be simple for him to nab, and he was already a bit of a criminal, so why not go for it? It was such a fantastic idea!

And so the young poser-pirate, calling himself the Dread Pirate Kroy, set off and stole (commandeered) a small, cabined sail-boat and began his career as a privateer, keeping mainly to the larger lakes when campaigning. Of course, such small bodies of water hardly provide sufficient prey, so he did not limit himself to sailing, though he found himself most at home as such. Thus he meandered the land, pilfering and plundering as he went, managing to build up quite a reputation, despite himself.

His reputation exceeds him. The rumours about Dread Pirate Kroy are mostly just that: rumours. Somewhere along the way, tall tales about the "The Great White Killer" began circulating, about him being a merciless breaker of clocks, a shameless cad, and cold-blooded lake monster. But of course, these are confused stories:

-The "Great White Killer" comes from the fact that he has the traits of a great white shark. Of course, no one would recognize him as this upon just seeing him, as he is a short, chubby youth with dark skin.

-He has never destroyed a clock heart in his life, of course, else the Jokers would have come after him with a vengeance. Rather he doesn't have a very good relation with actual time-pieces, and tends to break them, throw them, or stab them when he can't get them to work. Often in front of victims.

-He's not really so much a cad, as he hasn't a drop of chivalry in him. Therefore he treats women no differently from men, and will do things like rough them up, or grab them threateningly by the collar of their shirt....which of course makes him wind up looking perverted.

-As for being a cold-blooded lake monster...that comes back to the shark traits.
Details tend to get skewed in the retelling of tales.

As he in no way resembles the image that is burned into people's minds when they think of the Dread Pirate Kroy, no one ever suspects that he is the same man. Not even when he introduces himself, for name must be some sort of coincidence, of course, the Great White Killer couldn't possibly be this fat little black boy. Which is just as well, since for the most part he doesn't fit the bill...then again, he is far more cunning and skilled than anyone gives him credit.


Additional info:
-He features a shark tail and sharp, shark-like teeth. He does not, however, have gills, nor rows of fore mentioned teeth.

-Most of the time he adopts a wily smirk, as if he knows some sort of secret about you. It's a tactic he finds psyches people out, so he enjoys it.

-He is one of those people who somehow causes glitches in certain appliances (clocks in this case).

-His trouble with clockwork is not limited to standard time-pieces, for he also has a lot of "heart" trouble. His clockheart tends to run down a lot, so he spends much time getting it repaired.

-Captains a small crew of pirates now, including:
--Adrian ([link]) [who is also his first mate and best friend]
--Renoir ([link])

-Is actually a fantastic cook, since he had to grow up fending for himself. He learned a lot about what food lasts long and what tastes good together. He just doesn't cook often.

-Secretly has a girlfriend now. Due to fragile circumstances, however, they are not terribly open about this.
