As the sun is setting on the cityscape tonight
Everything seems a bit lonely in the fading light,
And it mutes the colours of the cars that pass me by.
And there's hardly any moon here,
Just a sliver in a gray-blue sky.

Oh yeah

So I look at that last little bit of light
And I'll pray that it'll bring someone
A little hope to life!

This is not home!
This is the street!
This is where everybody meets!
I will not rest!
I will not sleep!
Not until the shadows cease to creep!
Run until you drop!
Crawl til ya can't!
And when you find that you need to be carried,
Just call out for me;
I'll be your sanctuary!

As the clouds roll in to keep the stars out of the night
All the street lamps flicker dimly on and won't turn bright.
And the strolling people speed up in a frightened flight.
Every sound echoes out hollow,
It's as if the city sobs and cries.

And when you find that you need to be carried,
Just call out for me;
I'll be your sanctuary!

No, This is not home!
This is the street!
This is where everybody meets!
I will not rest!
I will not sleep!
Not until the shadows cease to creep!
Run until you drop!
Crawl til ya can't!
And when you find that you need to be carried,
Just call out for me;
I'll be your sanctuary!
Oh, I'll be your sanctuary!
You can cry sanctuary!
I'll be your sanctuary.
Just a song. Yeah, I wrote it when I was waiting for the bus the other day. It was evening, and the sky was gray, and the moon was just a sliver in the sky, and there was a faint orange glow on the horizon, and it was so pretty, even with the buildings, but the city looked so sad, and I don't know why.
